the 2025 Eversource Hartford Marathon

Are you ready to make a difference while having fun? Become a runner and raise funds for the Ron Foley Foundation during the Eversource Hartford Marathon! Join us on the course as a volunteer and help us meet our needs while enjoying a fantastic experience. Plus, you’ll receive some awesome Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) swag!

We Care Card

the we care card

The Foundation is very grateful to continue to be the recipient organization of We Care Card sales. Shop owners and restaurants in West Hartford Center offer patrons a discount in return for purchasing a We Care Card. The discounts and card sales run for about 12 days starting the beginning of November.
Join other volunteers for a fun Saturday or Sunday afternoon of selling We Care Cards. Volunteers set up small tables on LaSalle Road and Farmington Avenue and encourage passersby to purchase cards and provide information about pancreatic cancer and the Foundation, which can be informative for community members who may not know about us.

Each year on the third Thursday in November, we honor World Pancreatic Cancer Day. We gather in Veterans Memorial Park in West Hartford Center with our families, loved ones, friends, and neighbors to shine a light on pancreatic cancer. 
We unite to remember and honor those touched by it and to raise awareness for this terrible disease.

Ron's Run for the Roses

Ron’s Run for the Roses is the Foundation’s largest and most important fundraiser of the year, held on the first Saturday of May — the day of the Kentucky Derby.

ticket sales, sponsorships, Live and silent auctions, raffles, pulls, Heads or Tails, and our "Raise the Paddle" segment are just some of the fun, engaging, and meaningful ways we raise as much financial assistance for the Foundation as possible at Ron’s Run for the roses.

RON’S RUN FOR THE ROSES is largely dependent upon volunteers and we are very grateful for each and every one of them!

Below are some key positions we’ll need to fill to make Ron's Run for the Roses a success. Please review the ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for each position and let us know if you'd like to get involved. Send us an email or fill out the form below.

  • Take the lead on our most important fundraising event of the year!

  • Build a committee and solicit auction items

  • Perfect for creative individuals — implement the theme and design for our auction displays

  • Assist with all creative needs related to our auction displays

  • If sales is your forté, sign up to “sell” items during the reception

  • Be part of the team that checks in guests as they arrive for the event

  • We’ll need you during the event to help manage winning auction items and return unclaimed items to our office the day after (Sunday).

  • If you’re able to lift and carry heavy bins, help us pack up event supplies and materials during the event. We’ll also need you the day after (Sunday) to unload at our office.

  • Work with our administrative assistant to inventory all event supplies in mid- to late-May. Committee members MUST be able to lift and carry heavy bins.

Join Our Committee

No matter how you choose to contribute, you’ll be joining a remarkable volunteer group. In the fall, we meet once a month, both in person and virtually. As we gear up for Ron’s Run for the Roses in the spring, we gather every other week. Many of our volunteers have been with the Foundation for over five years, creating a close-knit community that feels like family. Be part of something special — your contributions will make a lasting impact!

Office Help

Occasionally, we need volunteers to help with a defined need in the office such as:
  • Stuffing envelopes for a large mailing
  • Organizing the storage room
These efforts can be done in a few hours or a few hours over a couple of days.
